[For Megaman, it's just a matter of logic. Hub's soul had to go somewhere, so obviously that means there's a somewhere for it to go. Granted, he's also just a lot more open to the idea of scientifically inexplicable things in general - dying and coming back will do that.

The moment Hiro leans into him he's shifting position, and unless he's prevented he'll be wrapping his arms around him and pulling him close, one hand rubbing circles into his shoulder. If he lets him, Megaman'll even tuck Hiro's head against his neck. It's a bit of an awkward position for Megaman, but dammit, he's not about to let two and a half inches keep him from comforting his operator.]

Oh, Hiro. [He hugs a little harder at that. This hurts, because he doesn't know how to make this better. He only knows what he's gone through himself.] ...you might not be able to change things at all.

[ Hiro's still compacted himself down from their earlier conversation, so perhaps it's not as awkward as all that. In any case, he leans in kind of hard, trying desperately to choke back a sob. He doesn't quite succeed in that. ]

[Megaman just curls around him, and the hand not rubbing his shoulder comes up to pet at his hair.]

But do you believe that?

... I don't know. I can't just give up, can I?

I'm not saying you have to. It's just that knowing something can happen and believing it can happen are two very different things.

[microbrobotics]

Then no. I don't believe it can happen.

But I'll give everything to try anyway.

[megabytes]

[He tightens the hug a bit and rests his chin on the top of Hiro's head.]

Hoping for the best, expecting the worst?

[ He nods against Megaman's neck. ]

Yeah. Exactly that.

[megabytes]

That's probably the best way to do it.

[Much, much better than Hiro hurting himself because he wasn't prepared for failure.]

It's the only way I can think of.

I can think of a few more, but none of them would be very good for you.

... Tell me anyway?

[He shakes his head.]

Trust me, Hiro, you've already found the best way. For both of you.

[Because if Tadashi is anything like Megaman, anything bad for baby brother is even worse for big brother.]

I won't do anything with them. I just - I have to consider every idea out there.
