That explanation is sufficient. It must have been traumatising.

[ He lets small fragments filter through; Colorman talking eagerly about playing with traffic lights - no mention of exploding buses there - Elecman complaining about a theft gone wrong;

'We almost got away with it, you know.'

Fireman worrying about his operator brooding about his loss. There is a muted emotion there, too; fondness this time.
